Slow Oxidiser: what on earth does it mean?
This may sound counterintuitive. But some of you need more carbohydrates.
Wait, what?
Everyone tells you to cut carbs. Eat more fat. More protein. And here I am telling some of you to eat more carbohydrates.
Yes. If you are a slow oxidiser.
What does that mean? Your body breaks down food slowly. Converts nutrients into energy at a sluggish pace. You feel tired. Drained. Struggle to lose weight.
This often happens when your thyroid or adrenal glands are sluggish. The body’s engine runs on low power. Everything slows down. It may also be due to genetics.
So, how do you know if this is you?
There are ways to test. One is a hair mineral analysis. It examines mineral levels in your body. If the level of calcium relative to potassium is higher, it indicates that you are a slow oxidiser.
Another test is simple. Take 1,000 mg of Vitamin C every hour for eight hours. A fast oxidizer will feel uneasy. Maybe jittery. A slow oxidizer? Nothing. No reaction at all.
What does this mean for your diet?
If you are a slow oxidizer, your body thrives on more carbohydrates. Up to 60% of your diet should come from carbs.
Protein? Around 25%. The rest fat.
This is the opposite of what most people believe. But for you, it works. Your body needs a steady supply of energy. Carbohydrates provide that.
Without enough carbs, you feel worse. More tired. More sluggish.
Obviously the key is balance. The right carbs. Not processed junk. Think whole foods. Fruits. Vegetables. Grains in their natural form. Not processed white bread.
Here is the key takeaway.
Every human body is unique. Your circumstances are unique. What your body needs is unique. You will not build long-term good health by listening to social media but by truly understanding your own body and what it needs.
PS: Please do not test at home without medical advice or advice from an expert.
