Kitchens: Fundamental Change is Coming

Kitchens: Fundamental Change is Coming

Growing up, winters meant sitting in our kitchen in front of a coal-based fire, toasting loads of bread and eating it with butter. A gas connection was years away.

We have made progress since. Yet, kitchens are hot, humid places. Fire, heat, smoke, oil.

I don’t know about your kitchen, but ours is alive all day. It does not lend itself to innovation, technology, and measurement. My cook threatened to run away when we asked him to measure the quantity of food he was cooking.

But all of this is about to change. Forever.

As the world turns over a new leaf, wholistic, preventive nutrition focused health is taking centre stage. There is no better place to start than the kitchen.

Technology, innovation, digital tracking and measurement are about to storm your kitchen.

Let us start with cookware. For too long, we have been sold technology that was chemically laden and unhealthy. Innovators will find ways to use ceramic, steel and even wood to improve your cookware.

The stove will come with digital tracking. Image recognition will monitor what is being cooked. Temperature, moisture, volatile compounds will be tracked and reported. An AI assistant will connect all of this to your health goals.

Your refrigerator, if you continue to use one, will track and measure consumption. It will be able to determine the quality of what you are buying. Why I say “if” is because it is entirely possible that the 10-min fad will shift to real time delivery of fresh ingredients and away from food that is dead.

We are already giving instructions to the cook, aligned to your health goals in multiple languages. The momentum will only accelerate.

I believe we are at a pivotal moment in the direction of health and wellness. The surge is real.

The momentum is unstoppable. Given the right nudge and push, perhaps we can Make The World Healthy Again instead of just making America Healthy Again.
