Fatigue: build more mitochondria
Fatigue is often misunderstood as a lack of food. While caloric deficiency can contribute to tiredness, many individuals experience persistent fatigue despite consuming adequate calories.
Can building more mitochondria help reduce fatigue?
Energy comes from mitochondria. They are tiny structures inside your cells. Mitochondria use oxygen and food. They turn it into ATP. ATP is energy. Without it, nothing works.
As you age, mitochondria decline. They become fewer. They become weaker. This is one reason you feel older. But here’s the truth.
You can make more mitochondria.
It’s called mitochondrial biogenesis. You do not need a pill. You need to push yourself just a little bit.
Start with movement. High-intensity exercise is powerful. Quick bursts. Sprints. Lifting heavy. This tells your body that you need more energy. Your cells respond by building more mitochondria.
Fasting works too. When you go without food, your body adapts. It becomes efficient. It cleans out old parts. It makes new ones.
Cold helps. A few minutes in a cold shower. A walk in the early morning chill. Cold shocks your body. It wakes up your mitochondria. It builds more of them.
Even certain foods help. Green tea. Blueberries. Grapes. They contain compounds that mimic stress. They tell your cells to grow.
Why does all this matter?
More mitochondria mean more life. You burn fat more easily. Your brain thinks faster. You recover quicker. You feel younger.
We live in a comfortable world, cocooned from the stresses that we used to ensure in the past. Your body needs small doses of discomfort.
Not to break you. To make you stronger.
You don’t need more food. You have enough. You need better engines. Mitochondria are those engines. Build them. You will feel the difference. In your mind. In your body. In your life.
