Cook: Your single point of failure
Everyone desires good health. But what is the point of failure? A single thing that, if changed, could dramatically alter outcomes?
No, I am not speaking about a super food, or a magic supplement.
Instead, I am speaking about the person who cooks your food. Because the audience who reads this is varied, I will cover all possibilities. The person cooking could be a parent, spouse, or hired help.
Trust me when I say this - this person determines your health.
We read, learn, watch social media, interact with friends and family and build an opinion on what good nutrition looks like. We need more protein; we need more vitamins; we need less fat.
But between what we think and the food that is made lies a massive chasm.
What does the person cooking think you need?
We have a very kind person who cooks in our home. He has been with us for over fifteen years. Over the years, he has seen us evolve and change in our habits.
From unhealthy food to tasty but healthful food. He evolved with us. Grudgingly at first, but over time, he changed his beliefs.
Today he was unwell, and his friend came as a substitute. Very different outcome. We argued, we tried to reason.
But the new person would not listen. His belief system was just too ingrained.
So you see, you could believe anything you want. It is what the person cooking believes that matters.
That is your single point of failure if there is one. Which leaves us with two choices. Either you cook for yourself or carry the person cooking with you.
If you are lucky enough to have a spouse or parent or cook who already knows and believes the right things, you are fine.
Else maybe you should fix things so that what you want and what is happening is more aligned.
