Blocked Nose: What can you do?
It is shocking how many people walk around with a blocked nose. Thankfully, not a nose turned up, just a blocked one.
But you have to ask, why is my nose blocked and what can I do?
The passages of your respiratory tract respond to the environment. When they feel threatened, they get inflamed.
What you and I call a blocked nose.
The triggers can be pollution, chemicals, smells, dust or even an infection.
The respiratory tract becomes the localized site for treatment. Your immune cells will rush to the area. Your body will send more blood. The result is inflammation, in this case, a good thing.
Your body is fighting what it thinks is an unwanted foreign object.
So what can you do?
Start with humming. Humming helps clear your nasal passages and sinuses. The soft vibration gently shakes the grass like structure (cilia) and releases the built up pollutants.
Salt water sprays, widely available, are your next best option. Salt is easily one of the best medicines availabe. Yes, salt is actually a medicine. Salt dislodges the built up inflammation, mucus, dead cells opening up your passages.
A hot compress is next. Heat is a signal for your body to increase circulation. The circulation helps clear up the area reducing the foreign particles but also your dead toxic cells.
Eating spicy food, my personal favourite is another option. Spicy food contains capasin.
Capasin is wonderful at boosting blood circulation. You could have experienced a runny nose while eating spicy food. In this case, the runny nose is wonderful for you.
Finally, if you can, and let me admit I cant, do a water cleanse also known as jal neti. You use a water pot with a spout to pass water from one side of your nose and out the other.
What ever your chosen cure, do not ignore a blocked nose. Most of us breathe poorly. It results in low oxygenation of the body.
A blocked nose just makes this worse.
