But then he died
I was recently reading a book on beating cancer. The author outlined the steps he had taken to beat grade III colon cancer successfully.
Then I realized he had recently died of cancer.
Naturally, my first instinct was to question everything he had said. He had rejected chemotherapy. He had rejected conventional modern medicine. Instead, he focused on breathing, juices, detoxification, exercise, meditation, and so on.
When events like these occur, it can put into doubt everything you believe.
What is the point of trying to live, what is proclaimed to be a healthy lifestyle if, at the end of it, death is the outcome?
I would not blame anyone for thinking that way. There is something about death that takes the guardrails away from all logic and reason.
But we need to be more parsimonious with our opinions.
So let us go back and look at the story of beating cancer with one disclaimer. I have not had the time to validate everything he has said in the book.
I am just taking his story at face value for now.
The story unfolds with the author discovering that he has grade III colon cancer. Over the course of the next six months, clinically, he manages to reverse his conditions. Or at least put it into remission.
He shares emails and reports from medical doctors that validate his claim. So clearly, medically, at one point, he was "cured."
In all medical conditions, whether treated with conventional medicine or an alternative, the possibility of a relapse is high.
A relapse is not necessarily a function of the method of treatment. Obviously, we lose people to disease even when treated with conventional medicine.
So, it boils down to making hard choices. Would you pick one way to cure yourself or another? Would you increase or reduce your risks with the choices you make?
There are no easy answers.
We must all do that which we think is best. Personally, I see merit in remission through natural means as far as possible.
